As of this writing, PHP 5.2 is still under active development, but has reached its Release Candidate (RC) stage. This means it’s getting close to being fully released! To celebrate the new version of PHP, here’s the complete reference guide for all of its major features and APIs - in PDF format! The document includes detailed information about everything that makes up the core language and runtime system - from classes to parameters to interfaces to exceptions. It also covers some new interface features like iterators and generators that are yet-to-be-added into "the reference" or considered part of "the standard". As you might notice, the topics are grouped into certain sections, which are meant to make things easy to follow. That way if you want to know more about objects, classes and interfaces, all of those can be found in one section. If you want to see what’s new with the standard runtime or its extensions (such as ext/mysql), then they can be found in another section. If you like digging into the Zend Engine for PHP 5. 2, then the "Core" section is for you. And finally, if you want to know about new features in the language or its extensions, then look in the "Language and Standard Extensions" section. The document is pretty much full of details and hidden gems about PHP 5.2. But because it’s so big, we decided to add a nice table of contents to it so you can quickly jump to a specific topic or section that you might be interested in - whether that’s a particular class in the OOP chapter or a specific function call in an example script in the "Language Extensions" chapter. So enjoy the document and let us know what you think! We’ll be continually updating this document as new PHP 5.2 features are added. Enjoy! Chapter 1: Introduction to Objects and Classes Chapter 2: Objects and Classes Chapter 3: Object Orientation Chapter 4: Class Definitions Chapter 5: Class Interfaces Chapter 6: Class Properties, Class Constants, and Constructor Arguments Chapter 7: Object-Oriented Design Patterns with PHP 5.2 Practical Tips for Everyday Use of Objects and Classes in PHP 5.2 (by Matt Zandstra) \t\t\t\tFrom http://www.phpdeveloper. org/documentation/php5.2/ Please note that this document is the latest published version of the PHP 5.2 reference guide. It has been updated to include information covering a wide array of new features and additional context for all examples in the text. It also includes reference information about many of the most recent tweaks posted to PHP's Core development mailing list, as well as a few new examples, most from Core contributor Brett McLaughlin whose own site can be found here: http://www.brettmclaughlin.com \tThe good news is, you don't need to memorize every little detail on every single page in this guide. cfa1e77820
